Hot Girls Use Cleansing Balms 🤠

It’s time to ditch your makeup remover. Especially the wipes, we beg of you to please ditch the wipes. Makeup remover wipes and micelliar waters are doing more harm than good for your skin, and these are products that most people are using in their daily skincare rotation. These quick and effective formulas promise to erase the day’s wear and tear in just a few seconds. But, like many other skincare products on the market these days, there's more beneath the surface.

One of the most obvious downsides of traditional liquid makeup removers is the drying effects they can have on our skin. Have you ever used a makeup wipe or micellar water and felt your skin becoming tight? This is because most of these products contain alcohol, a common ingredient used to dissolve makeup quickly. While alcohol can quickly break down stubborn makeup, it also completely strips your skin of its natural oils that provide hydration and protection. This leads to a disrupted skin barrier, causing dryness, redness and flakiness. For those with sensitive or already dry skin, this can make existing issues worse, leaving your skin feeling and looking irritated.

Traditional eye makeup removers are also extremely harsh on the delicate eye area. Most makeup removers are packed with chemicals that can cause redness and puffiness and even contribute to premature fine lines and wrinkles around the eye (you are literally tugging and pulling at your skin when using makeup wipes!). The residual chemicals can also seep into your eyes, causing stinging, watering, and discomfort, especially for those with sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers.

Using cleansing balms is one of the easiest ways to remove dirt and makeup from your skin without stripping it from its natural oils. While a quick rinse from micellar water might seem sufficient, failing to use a proper oil-based cleanser or balm can leave behind remnants that contribute to breakouts and dullness. Unlike traditional makeup removers, cleansing balms provide a gentle, hydrating cleanse that is the perfect precursor to a face wash.

If you’re prone to breakouts, have no fear. Cleansing balms, though generally oil-based, should not cause breakouts or trigger hormonal acne. Adding this extra step to your skincare routine can actually provide you with a deeper clean and help heal active breakouts with gentle ingredients. It’s best to choose a non-comedogenic and clean cleansing balm to remove makeup.

Since we love a cleansing balm moment, we had to make one of our own to share with you- tallow-based of course. Our cleansing balm is made of gentle and organic ingredients. A beautiful little blend of tallow, activated charcoal, olive oil and honey will allow you to remove any dirt, makeup and impurities without irritating your skin. Tallow will also keep your face moisturized well after you have removed your makeup, unlike astringent waters and wipes.

How To Use Cleansing Balm

Trying a tallow-based cleaning balm for the first time might seem counter-intuitive. Like, why am I rubbing fat all over my face to get it clean? BUT, we know better than anyone that as soon as you go fat, you never go back. Tallow has antimicrobial properties that can help remove impurities from the skin and cleanse gently. The lipids in tallow can break down and dissolve makeup, including stubborn, waterproof products. Use tallow cleansing balm by massaging a small amount onto dry skin, focusing on areas where your makeup has been applied. Then, use a warm, damp cloth to gently wipe away the residue. After cleansing, you can follow up with For The Face to keep your skin hydrated, protected and dewy while you sleep.
