The Gua Sha Routine That Changed My Face
Nothing has transformed my face shape quite like gua sha. I’m talking about a real, noticeable change: sculpted cheekbones, a snatched jawline, and lymphathic drainage that I can feel. And the best part? You don’t need filler, you don’t need botox, you just need a cute gua sha and a solid routine (and maybe a wee jar of tallow ;).
What is a Gua Sha?
Gua sha (pronounced “gwa-shah”) is an ancient Chinese healing technique that uses a smooth stone tool to massage the face, stimulate circulation, and promote lymphatic drainage. Originally used for body work to relieve tension and boost circulation, it has now become a staple in holistic skincare. When done correctly, gua sha can help lift, sculpt, and depuff your face—no needles or pricey treatments required.
Does Gua Sha Work?
Well, heck yes, but only if you do it right. After just a few weeks of consistent use alongside tallow, I started noticing that my cheekbones looked more defined, my jawline appeared tighter and morning puffiness was significantly reduce. My skin started to have more of a natural glow, as if I’d just had a facial. Gua sha encourages lymphatic drainage, which reduces fluid retention and helps flush out toxins. Hence the new and improved snatched face.
The Only Gua Sha Routine You Need
Here’s how to get started:
Your lymph nodes in the neck and collarbone act as drainage points. Before gua sha, lightly massage these areas! Use your fingertips to gently tap or lightly stroke downward along the sides of your neck. Apply soft pressure to the area above the collarbones and move in small circles. Do this for 30–60 seconds.
Start with a clean gua sha (some like to keep theirs cold in the fridge, I like mine warmer). Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, then apply a product that will help your tool glide. Our Tallow Twins For The Face is perfect—it gives just the right amount of slip without clogging pores.
Hold Your Gua Sha Tool at a 15° Using light to medium pressure, glide the tool across your face in slow, upward strokes.
Follow This Flow. Neck: Sweep downwards to encourage lymphatic drainage. Jawline: Start at your chin and glide up toward your ear. Cheeks: Move from the side of your nose out toward your hairline. Under Eyes: Use gentle strokes from the inner corner to the temple. Forehead: Sweep up from brows to hairline to smooth fine lines.
Repeat Each Stroke 5-10 Times. Take your time, breathe deeply, and enjoy the process.
